Our tariffs and charges

Charges applicable from 1 April every year, are published by 1 March on our website. We are responsible for publishing the default retail charges for Bristol Water and Wessex Water.

Changes are largely driven by two factors, wholesalers will vary their costs for the water and wastewater services supplied in your area each year. These can increase or decrease against the previous year depending on their business plans which are approved by Ofwat, the industry regulator.

We then subsequently vary our costs in line with CPIH (Consumer Prices Index including owner occupiers' housing costs) and always in accordance with the Retail Exit Code, the regulation stipulating what we can charge you.

We will never increase our charges by more than these two factors.

Each water retailer must publish the terms and conditions that make up their deemed contract. The detailed requirements of this are defined by Ofwat in the Retail Exit Code.
